Time to Heal

Robin came to me a broken bird. He had an awkward walk. For some time, since he joined us, he really couldn't walk at all. Too weak, he was unable to climb on his perch or run to fetch his food. He was too shy as well, wouldn't allow anyone to caress him, and kept running back inside his cage where he felt most comfortable preening his feathers.

On the other hand, Tiffy is a free soul! She doesn't like harnesses and trinkets on her and when she is truly happy, she flies with all joy inside our home. It's a joy to watch her spread her wings and whistle as she flaps her white feathers.
What we enjoy most, is how she brushes herself gently against us as she flies to truly express just how happy she is. And that's what I look for Robin too..

When we adopted Robin, we needed to first make him physically strong so he could start flying all by himself without getting hurt, and next, we needed to lift his spirits so he can really start enjoying himself, and play more, as well as be more friendly with Tiffany.

Being friends with us humans only came later.

I guess most of us at some point in time in our lives have faced circumstances that have left us broken. We have all had our awkward walk, lost our sense of direction, lost strength to move on, and sometimes felt like we needed to be left alone, inside our shell- left for self healing.
The whole world could move on and couldn't care less.

How many times have we thought- Who will mend us, fix us?

But we have..either on our own, through our perseverance, grit and determination, or someone in our inner circle has been that support to lift us up, and bring us back in shape and order through encouragement, trust, positivity & genuine conversations. This is how we build our lives and move ahead. We know when it's time to leave the jagged energy behind.

I am delighted to see a Robin heal. He's now got a bounce in his step and tries to fly as far as he can, but still needs some more time to lift himself up and fly freestyle! He is growing to become a beautiful, colourful bird and still sheds a feather or two each time he takes a run up to launch himself. But I'm glad that he's more friendly now. He will remain the 'touch me not', as he doesn't yet enjoy being held nor caressed much, and I guess that it will stay like this for a while.

Where I do see a huge change now, is that he walks much closer to us, and touches gently (without us knowing), a little more often..yesterday for the first time since he came to us, we heard him chirp and sing songs...too lost in his own sweet world!

Robin's friendly peck on the cheek for Tiffy, and the chirps & playfulness is what gives us most joy these days. I guess it's time.. the right time for us to heal.
